Mystics Win But Lose Playoff Spot

Mystics Win But Lose Playoff Spot

A Heartbreaking Loss for Washington

In a nail-biting game that came down to the final seconds, the Washington Mystics defeated the Indiana Fever 92-91 on Sunday afternoon. Despite the victory, the Mystics were eliminated from playoff contention after the Dallas Wings defeated the New York Liberty later that evening.

The Mystics were led by Elena Delle Donne, who finished with a game-high 25 points. Natasha Cloud added 18 points, and Ariel Atkins chipped in 17. The Fever were led by Victoria Vivians, who scored 21 points. Erica Wheeler added 18 points, and Teaira McCowan had 16 points and 12 rebounds.

The Mystics controlled the game for most of the first half, but the Fever rallied in the third quarter to take a 66-61 lead. The Mystics regained the lead in the fourth quarter, but the Fever tied the game with just seconds remaining.

The Mystics had a chance to win the game in the final seconds, but Delle Donne's shot was blocked by Wheeler. The Fever rebounded the ball and had a chance to win the game at the buzzer, but McCowan's shot was off the mark.

A Disappointing End to the Season

The loss was a disappointing end to the season for the Mystics, who had high hopes of making a deep playoff run. The team finished the season with a 18-16 record, which was good for fourth place in the Eastern Conference.

The Mystics will now have to regroup and prepare for the offseason. The team has a number of key players set to become free agents, including Delle Donne and Cloud. It will be interesting to see what moves the Mystics make in the offseason as they look to build a team that can compete for a championship.
